ABOUT RAFAEL FREITAS
Rafael Freitas is a Brazilian multimedia journalist (MMJ) who received in June/2018 a masters degree in broadcast & journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
Over the past year, Rafael worked for the Newhouse Sports Media Center, as a reporter covering division 1 college basketball and football.
During his time at Newhouse, he developed a wide range of skills such as: sports reporter, anchor, host, analyst, video editor and producer. He also spent significant time filming sports and news content as an MMJ, creating TV packages.
In the newsroom, Rafael was a reporter and anchor for the Orange Television Network’s show Mornings on the Hill, where he developed journalistc content related to the Syracuse University community.
Upon graduating, Rafael worked for Orlando City SC and Orlando Pride, two professional soccer teams in MLS and NWSL. There, he contributed to the content department as a writer, video editor and translator, producing content in English, Spanish and Portuguese, three languages he is fluent in.
Rafael is also a contributor writer for Brazilian Sports website Torcedores.com and Blue Star Brasil, the largest website dedicated to the Dallas Cowboys in Portuguese.
Prior to becoming an MMJ, Rafael worked for five years with advertisement in his own company. He founded the first Sports and Marketing Advertisement agency in Brazil, focused on digital strategies for sports brands. Rafael was the Social Media and Content Director of the agency. He was involved in all the campaigns conducted from 2011 to 2015.
He also worked as a producer, writer and video editor for a sports humor channel in Youtube called CHUPA FC.
